Camp Overview
For 33 years, Junior Curling Camp, formerly known as the Wisconsin Junior Curling Camp, has been providing summer instruction for upwards of 100 campers. While at camp, campers can expect to get a general review of key curling components: sweeping, delivery, line of site, hack set up, weight, team building, nutrition for competitive curlers, basic to advanced strategy and much more! This camp is designed for campers 11yo-20yo.
Instruction is led by volunteer USCA certified instructors and coaches. All of our instructors have been handpicked to instruct at camp by the camp directors and have passed the USOC Safesport Background screening. This camp also enlists current/former Olympic athletes to instruct at camp.

Which Division is right for my camper?
The Gold Division is for curlers who have curled competitively at state or national play downs. (USCA affiliated event; State high school play downs do not count as a USCA event) This camp is designed for play down teams however it's not a requirement to bring a team to be in this division. This is a selection based camp and teams do get first preference when applying.
The Silver Division is for those who play at the club level and would like to eventually play-down but do not have the experience to do so. In this division we spend more time working on those important curling fundamentals like hack set-up, sweeping, balance and line of site. Anyone can apply for this division, however we ask that you have at least a year of solid on-ice experience.
The Bronze Division is for those campers who: play at the club level only, have not seen much ice time (under 1 year), or are of a younger age (11-12). This division is designed to match younger or less experienced curlers with older or more experienced curlers. The campers get more out of learning from each other when we do this.
All divisions include meals*, a curling camp tee-shirt, camper name badge**, top notch curling instruction from curlers like Olympian's Courtney George, Jessica Schultz and Paralympian Patrick McDonald and other Junior National Coaches. All divisions also include open ice time on all days of camp to work one on one with an instructor of their choosing.
*Meals are based on the camp schedule. A menu is created before camp. Special dietary requirements may not be able to be met as all camp meals are "family style" or buffet style. Campers with food allergies must report them on their registration form. Water and Milk will be served with every meal, NO SODA at this camp.
**The camp director takes no responsibility for spelling a name wrong as the names are taken off the registration form.

Camper Awards
The Katie Beck Award
Each year we give out 3 awards in Katie Beck's name. Katie Beck began curling in 1992. She participated in both the GNCC and Eau Claire, WI (now the U.S. Junior Curling Camp) summer camps. She was Junior National Champion in 2002 and 2003 and World Junior Gold Medalist in 2002.
Katie was diagnosed with adolescent bone cancer in early December 2005. She subsequently underwent surgery and chemotherapy. While it originally appeared that the treatment was a success, the cancer returned and spread. At that point, the doctors determined there was little more they could do to help Katie. After a second opinion confirmed the diagnosis, Katie made a decision to forego any further treatment and live the rest of her days at home surrounded by her family and friends. She died on December 30, 2006, at the age of 24. A close personal friend of hers describes that Katie was not afraid near the end and was glad to have had the chance to say her final good-byes to her loved ones.
You should know that Katie had peace of mind in her last weeks of life and was humbly honored to have this award established. The criteria for this award reflect Katie’s dedication and commitment to the sport that she loved. The criteria for this award are as follows:
1. Be eligible to play in the current championship season
2. Coachability
3. Shows Good Sportsmanship (on and off the ice)
4. Has a positive attitude (the entire camp)
5. Has a commitment to junior competitive curling
